Meskerem Debebe, Director of the Oromia Revenue Office, signed the agreement on behalf of the state. She expressed that this agreement would enhance the services provided by her offices.

According to Meskerem, Ethio Telecom’s success, particularly in the Adama smart city project and various financial activities, has motivated this collaboration. She further explained that the agreement encompasses the collection of municipal income tax, rental income tax, and investment income tax payments via Telebirr.

Ethio Telecom, beyond its telecom operations, has been a major player in providing tech solutions since its LEAD strategy was in place in 2021.

Similarly, Ethio Telecom has signed a contract agreement with the Sheger City Administration Mayor’s Office to deploy a Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure that will help to easily integrate various bureaus and service rendering offices. The agreement also includes the installation of fiber-optic cables for CCTV cameras, the construction of a control room for these cameras, and the provision of ongoing technical support.

Firehiwot Tamiru, CEO of Ethio Telecom, stated that Ethio Telecom is committed to being a technology partner for the nationโ€™s digitization needs.
